What do you think of when someone mentions the "core"? Does it immediately bring abdominal muscles to mind? Make you think of sit ups and planks?
We all want a strong core, but it is important to also lengthen our core muscles and learn to relax. Think about an elastic band, when it is working properly it will expand and contract, if it has been overworked it might never come back to it's original shape and if it is too tight it cannot perform it's function! We aim for tone and elasticity in our core.
It's not just about a flat stomach, our core supports our back, improves our posture and gives us a functioning pelvic floor.
Join me to start the year with an energising and informative yoga workshop as we shake off the holidays, stretch out our bodies and give those core muscles a little TLC.
Who is this workshop suitable for?
Some experience of yoga is useful but there is no expectation or requirement to be able to move into any specific postures to attend.
What to expect?
In this workshop we will look at the anatomy of the core before learning to connect to the muscles involved through breath, bandha, movement and yoga postures. Discover how you can use subtle (and not so subtle!) yoga and breathing practices to connect with this area in a deep and strength-building way.
