February 2019 Newsletter

I’m sitting here with the sun streamingthrough the window.  Have you noticed howthe sun is rising just that little earlier in the mornings now?  And setting just a little later?  I’ve been making the most of the stunningweather this past week and walking (for as long as I can before my toes gonumb).  I have seen amazing ice crystals, picturesque snow covered trees and breathtaking icicles.  I’ve also seen the snowdrops, and the firstshoots of other bulbs thinking about pushing their way out of the earth.

Friday was Ibolc, the midway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.  A time to acknowledge and celebrate that Spring is on its way.  The dark days of January are behind us, and although it is bitterly cold we can see signs of new life all around us.  Signs that the earth is ready to wake up again. The snow felt symbolic to me, a chance to wipe the slate clean and start again. And a chance to have lots of fun along the way, who doesn't love a snow day?

This is a time for clearing out the old andmaking space for the new.  It is a timefor Spring cleaning your home, or for clearing the mind and heart, riddingyourself of thoughts and ideas that no longer serve you to allow new dreams andideas to flourish.

What better way to create some head space than to join me on 23rd February for my first of three Saturday afternoon workshops aimed at women.  The theme of this first workshop is Refresh and Renew.  We will explore practices to give your energy levels a boost, clear your mind and leave you feeling both revitalised and deeply relaxed.

Also happening this month, my brand new postnatal yoga classes are starting on February 21st.  These classes run on Thursday mornings at 10am in St Leonards church hall, St Andrews.  Postnatal yoga offers the perfect way to gently reconnect with your body after pregnancy and birth.  We will look at practices to help improve pelvic floor function and diastasis recti, work on pelvic stability, give your energy levels a boost and gently regain core strength.  I will also teach you breathing practices that can help bring balance and calm to the body, and each class will end with a blissfully long yoga nidra (yogic sleep bringing deep relaxation).

Monthly family yoga is on Saturday 23rd February, 10am at the Old Parish Centre in Cupar.  The family yoga classes are now fully booked, but if you would like to be added to my waiting list please get in touch.

There are no classes the week beginningMonday 11th February, classes resume as normal on Monday 18thFebruary.

The second block of adult yoga classes at the Malt Barn begin on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st February.  I teach general yoga and Ashtanga. There are still a couple of spaces left on Tuesday evenings so get in touch if you’d like to join me for a blissful hour to yourself each week.

If you’d love to start a yoga practice but can’t commit to a weekly class, or find the times don’t work for you, what about booking a one to one session?  These sessions are designed for you, to meet your exact requirements.  I can build sequences for you to start your home yoga practice in a way that fits in with your life, or look at fine tuning an existing practice.  Contact me to find out more about how we could work together.

I’m doing a bit of Spring cleaning myself, thinking about which dreams I would like to make into a reality over the next few months.  I’ve discovered that I absolutely love teaching my adult classes more than I ever thought I would and hope to start another adult yoga class during the daytime (probably a Thursday) in the near future.  If this is something you may be interested in, please get in touch so I know whether this has potential or is simply a dream!  I’m also starting to make plans for some outdoor family classes at Cambo again this summer.  These have been a huge success and lots of fun over the past couple of years, so watch this space for more details coming soon.
